Director of Electrical Engineering

We are seeking an accomplished leader to serve as the Director of Electrical Engineering. In this senior management role, you will guide a team of electrical engineers in the design and implementation of complex industrial, commercial, and municipal electrical systems throughout Central Texas. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design of electrical systems for large-scale projects such as municipal buildings, water/wastewater facilities, and manufacturing plants

  • Perform electrical load calculations, system modeling, and develop sequences of operations for relaying, PLC controls, and building automation

  • Collaborate with vendors to determine specification requirements for projects

  • Manage the design process from schematic design to construction documentation 

  • Develop technical specifications and coordinate with mechanical engineers, architects, and contractors

  • Review RFIs, contractor submittals, and conduct site observations

  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, fostering their professional development

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work 

  • Maintain a strong focus on client satisfaction and foster positive client relationships 

  • Stay up-to-date with engineering standards and best practices (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI)

  • Explore opportunities for process improvements and innovation within the department

  • Contribute to the strategic direction and business development of the organization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Texas, with a preference for candidates with an NCEES record

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, preferably in a consulting capacity

  • At least 5 years of experience in managing engineering teams and/or departments 

  • Proficient in using engineering software such as SKM, ETAP, or similar tools

  • Demonstrated expertise in substation design, high voltage systems, protective relay application, three-phase power systems, and electrical load calculations

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on client satisfaction

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, in-office environment (this is not a remote position)

  • Relocation package may be available to cover moving expenses, temporary housing, and assistance with house hunting
